Prof. Juliet FALL, professeure ordinaire Juliet Fall est professeure au Département de géographie et environnement depuis 2007. Après une licence en Sciences économiques et sociales, mention géographie, de l’Université de Genève en 1997, Juliet Fall a obtenu un Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Change and Management à l’Université d’Oxford (UK) en 1998, puis a effectué sa thèse de doctorat à l’Université de Genève, soutenue en 2003. Suite à des séjours scientifiques dans les universités de Durham (UK), de Colombie-Britannique à Vancouver (UBC - Canada), de Californie à Los Angeles (UCLA – Etats-Unis), elle fut nommée à The Open University (UK). Depuis sa nomination à Genève, Juliet Fall a également effectué un séjour académique à la Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pise (Italie) en 2014-2015 pendant son congé scientifique.

Recherche Ses travaux portent en géographie politique sur les limites et frontières politiques et les discours sur les frontières naturelles ; au sein des études visuelles sur la réalisation de documentaires scientifiques et la bande dessinée, et en histoire des sciences sociales sur les débats, circulations et différences entre géographies anglophones, francophones et italophones. |
Intérêts Critical focus on the political geography of the environment, and the essential drivers of how and why nature and space are instrumentalised within politics History of ideas and critical spaces of knowledge production, focussing on the biographies of geographers and their situated practices
