Rénovation Bastions: new opening hours from February 15

From February 15, the opening hours of the three spaces (Central, Battelle and Philosophes) of the Uni Bastions site are reduced for several months.

New opening hours :

  • Monday-saturday : 9am-6pm
  • Sunday : closed

This reduction in opening hours is part of the "Rénovation Bastions" project and will allow the evening and Sunday teams to devote themselves exclusively to the reorganization of documents, in particular the implementation of a new harmonized classification for all of the site's collections. This reclassification work will also be an opportunity to equip the collections with an RFID (radio frequency identification) chip which will promote the management of loan and return transactions as well as the geolocation of documents by users, in anticipation of their relocation to the new premises.

In addition, to allow the teams to finalize this reorganization, a week of complete closure of the 3 spaces is planned during the summer period, from June 19 to July 4.

The reorganization of the collections in figures:

  •     processing of more than 150,000 documents
  •     7 full-time people (FTE) for the re-equipment of the collections
  •     Estimated duration of 15 months

Reminder on the follow-up to the project:

During the second phase of the works (2022-2026), it will be the turn of the central building to be renovated. During summer 2022, the renovated Jura wing will reopen its doors to accommodate the reclassified and re-equipped collections of the Central, Philosophers and Battelle spaces.

At the end of the works (2026), the three current spaces of the Uni Bastions site of the Library will be united on a single surface of 5,000 m2, in the Central and Jura buildings, to accommodate all the collections of the disciplines taught at the Faculties of Letters and of theology. This new place will make it possible to offer services adapted to students, teachers and researchers.
