In July 2021, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPSE) of the University of Geneva and the Fondation privée des Archives Jean Piaget created the Centre Jean Piaget, as part of the Faculty. Comprising two departments, the Centre's mission is to preserve, study and promote the work of Jean Piaget. This threefold mission is carried out through a documentation and archive service, digital dissemination ("Historical Sciences - Jean Piaget Archives" Division) and the promotion of interdisciplinary research on development, education and epistemology, as well as critical teaching of Piagetian theory ("Cognitive Sciences" Division).
The Fondation Archives Jean Piaget is a private foundation set up in 1974 by Professor Bärbel Inhelder and Professor Olivier Reverdin. The creation of the Foundation was prompted by the qualitative and quantitative importance of Jean Piaget's work. The Foundation promotes Piagetian themes from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The Foundation is responsible for a documentation center, the Archives Jean Piaget, whose aim is to build up as complete a collection as possible of the published and unpublished works of the great psychologist and father of genetic epistemology, as well as of the research output of the Geneva School of Psychology, in order to preserve them and make them available to researchers worldwide.
