More women in scientific leadership positions - this is the aim of AcademiaNet, a European database of outstanding female researchers. Women continue to be under-represented in senior academic and scientific positions - around 20% of the EU's highest-paid professorships are held by women; in some countries, the proportion is even lower.

Professor Julie Peron has just been added to this database of highly qualified women academics and scientists.

Members of this exceptional list must be nominated by AcademiaNet's partner organizations, as direct applications are not possible. Prof Julie Peron was nominated by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The main criteria for inclusion are outstanding academic qualifications, independent leadership activities and academic credentials. Additional criteria include international experience, visiting professorships and social commitment.

Established in 2010 by the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Swiss National Science Foundation has taken over management of the AcademiaNet platform from January 2020.
