2nd Geneva Summit on Sustainable Finance

The Geneva Summit on Sustainable Finance is a research conference initiated and organized by the University of Geneva.

The second edition of the Summit will take place on November 27th, 2014 (8:30-17:30) at the International Conference Centre in Geneva (CICG), Switzerland.

Last year more than 250 people from 16 different countries attended the first edition of the summit.

The Summit is a collaborative effort between the University’s Finance Research Institute (GFRI), the University’s Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE) and Sustainable Finance Geneva (SFG), an association of Geneva based investment professionals.

The event will feature presentations by leading academics and institutions such as the Carbon Tracker Initiative or the Global Footprint Network, two organizations that work to increase environmental awareness among investors.

The keynote presentation will be given by Mr. Yngve Slyngstad, CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management and responsible for managing Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund.

The Summit provides a unique opportunity to discuss and learn about issues related to sustainable finance.

Mr. Yngve Slyngstad is the Chief Executive Officer of Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) since 2008. He joined NBIM in 1998 to head and build its equity management activities.

Mr. Slyngstad holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Oslo, a master’s degree in business management from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), a master’s degree in economics from the University of California and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Paris.

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) is the asset management unit of the Norwegian central bank (Norges Bank). NBIM manages the Government Pension Fund Global, Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund that is sometimes referred to as the Norwegian oil fund.

The Government Pension Fund Global is the largest sovereign wealth fund with a market value of about USD 870 billion. The fund owns about 1.3% of the world’s listed companies and 2.5% of Europe’s listed companies.
