Philanthropie et donation d’œuvres d’art

Le jeudi 29 janvier aura lieu à Palexpo la deuxième conférence du Cycle Philanthropie organisé par l’Université de Genève et la Faculté de droit. Elle sera consacrée aux donations d’œuvres d’art aux musées, sous la modération du professeur Marc-André Renold, directeur du Centre du droit de l’art.

Un panel international de spécialistes présentera le cadre juridique des donations d'œuvres d'art aux musées en France, en Suisse et aux Etats-Unis. Ces donations, fondées sur une tradition philanthropique marquée dans le monde de l'art, ne sont toutefois pas sans soulever de délicates questions juridiques qui seront abordées lors du colloque, dans une perspective comparatiste.

Quelques esquisses de réponses et de recommandations pourront être formulées, le tout avec l'aide du grand collectionneur suisse d'art contemporain chinois, Uli Sigg, et du directeur du Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne, Bernard Fibicher.

Cette conférence se déroulera dans le cadre de artgenève à Palexpo.

Le cycle Philanthropy, lancé le 1er octobre dernier avec un exposé de Matthieu Ricard, moine bouddhiste, écrivain et interprète français du dalaï-lama, propose une série de présentations sur des problématiques juridiques en lien avec la philanthropie. La première session était consacrée au thème «Philanthropie et taxation» sous la modération du professeur Xavier Oberson, initiateur avec le professeur Henry Peter de ce cycle de conférences. Les sessions suivantes aborderont les questions liées à la propriété intellectuelle et à la responsabilité sociale des entreprises.

Une visite d'artgenève est offerte à l'issue de ce colloque.

Philanthropy is increasingly a topic of keen interest to individuals and companies alike, particularly in Geneva, a canton with a long tradition of giving. Proactive thinking about the framework conditions conducive to philanthropic initiatives can only benefit such momentum. For this reason, in line with the actions already engaged by SwissFoundations, the Canton of Geneva and Fondation Lombard Odier, the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva organises a Philanthropy series.

Initiated under the impulse of Professor Xavier Oberson and Professor Henry Peter, the Philanthropy series is comprised of four conferences throughout the university year 2014-15. The objective of these half-day sessions is to debate different aspects of philanthropy from an academic standpoint, with a view to providing policy makers and practitioners with concrete recommendations.

Art donations to Museums: Comparative perspectives and Recommendations for Switzerland

Under the chairmanship of Professor Marc-André Renold, an international panel of specialists will present the legal frameworks of France, Switzerland and the United States concerning the art donations to museums. Presentations will be followed by a debate with practitioners and a discussion on strategies and possible guidelines that could be adopted in this field.
