Semaine des droits humains 2018
Genève accueille depuis 2013 la Semaine des droits humains avec une série de rendez-vous clefs, fédérant plusieurs partenaires pour faire avancer la réflexion sur les droits humains:
Michelle Bachelet, Haut-Commissaire des Nations Unies aux droits de l’homme depuis le 1er septembre 2018, abordera les défis quotidiens et complexes auxquels le monde est confronté aujourd’hui lors d'une conférence publique intitulée "Les droits humains dans une nouvelle ère", le mercredi 14 novembre.
La conférence sera précédée le mardi 13 novembre d'une table ronde d'ouverture sur "Being a human rights defender in 2018".
Le programme de la semaine inclut aussi:
4 représentations de la pièce de théâtre de Dominique Ziegler "La Route du Levant" suivies de débats avec les associations d'étudiants de l'UNIGE et le public,
4 tables rondes avec la participation d'Amnesty International et de la DDC,
ainsi qu'un colloque académique sur "Les droits humains et le cyberspace" et deux demi-journées pour les écoles.

GENEVA HUMAN RIGHTS WEEK
Geneva hosts since 2013 the annual Human Rights Week with a series of key events, federating different partners to advance the reflection on human rights.
Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights since 1 September 2018, will discuss the complex daily challenges the world is facing in a public lecture on ‘Human rights in a new era’,on Wednesday, 14 November.
The lecture will be preceded on Tuesday, 13 November by an opening round table on ‘Being a human rights defender in 2018’
This year’s edition also includes:
4 round tables on migration and international solidarity, innovations in defending and promoting human rights, Syria and the human rights responsibilities of multinational corporations
4 performances of Dominique Ziegler’s play ‘La Route du Levant’, followed by debates with students associations and the public
A two-day conference on ‘Human rights and cyberspace’ and debates for secondary school students

Présidée par Micheline Calmy-Rey, ancienne présidente de la Confédération suisse et professeure invitée au Global Studies Institute de l’Université de Genève, la Semaine des droits humains est organisée en collaboration avec le Département fédéral des affaires étrangères, le Haut-commissariat des Nations Unies aux droits de l’homme, la République et canton de Genève et l'Académie de droit international humanitaire et des droits humains.
2018 marque le 20e anniversaire de la Déclaration des Nations Unies sur les défenseurs des droits de l'homme et le 70e anniversaire de la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’homme.
Chaired by Micheline Calmy-Rey, former President of the Swiss Confederation and visiting professor at the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva, the Human Rights Week is organized in collaboration with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Republic and Canton of Geneva and the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
