Generative AI has the potential to be both a boon and a threat to society. For instance, it could contribute to the 'enshittification' of the web (a concept popularized by writer Cory Doctorow) by inundating online spaces with AI-generated content, chatbots, and algorithmic recommendations tailored to users’ presumed preferences. This deluge risks degrading the quality and integrity of the digital ecosystem. How can we envision an alternative web and adopt new practices that steer us away from this downward trend?

L’IA générative peut être à la fois bénéfique et nuisible à la société. Par exemple, elle pourrait être une nouvelle source de «merdification» du web (concept de « enshittification » popularisé par l’écrivain Cory Doctorow), notamment avec l’arrivée massive de créations générées par IA qui inondent le web, de chatbots et recommandations algorithmiques selon les prétendues préférences des internautes. Comment envisager un autre web, de nouvelles pratiques qui nous permettraient de sortir de cette tendance à la «merdification» du web ?
