Young Advisory Board | UNIGE × MICR
The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and the University of Geneva are launching a Young Advisory Board. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the cultural domain and to deepen your understanding of international humanitarian action as it is presented by the museum.
This program, open to all faculties, is aimed at students currently enrolled in a master's level course throughout the period, from September 2021 to June 2022.
What the program entails:
- You will be a source of proposals as you are invited to share your visions for the museum of tomorrow and influence the upcoming cultural program
- You will discover from the inside the operations and organization of a museum
- You will meet professionals in the field and build your professional network
Duration:
- An academic year, from September 2021 to June 2022 – as well as a handover session in September with the next group of participants
Program:
- Introductory session with museum management (September 2021)
- Presentation of the Museum and its objectives, meeting with the team
- Defining the terms of the meetings and sharing respective expectations
- Career Centre Workshop: "What are the advantages of the program" (October 2021)
- Committee brainstorming meetings
- 4 to 6 times from September 2021 to June 2022 (plus a handover session in September 2022)
- Reflect on the role and uses of the Museum within the City
- Identify themes and topics to be addressed during the next cultural season
- Meetings and exchanges with the Museum's professionals
- Expand your knowledge of the inner workings of a cultural institution and discover the different professions within the museum
- Build your own professional network
- Participation in museum events
- To be defined according to the Museum's agenda
- Career Centre Workshop "How to “sell” the experience to an employer" (May 2022)
Registration and selection processes
- Interested students fill out the online form and attach their CV and cover letter. Application deadline: April 25, 2021
- The Career Centre pre-selects students on the basis of their motivation. .
- Those shortlisted will be invited to meet with the Museum's management in May 2021. The discussion will focus on the ideas you wish to propose to the Museum. Please note, that depending on the coronavirus situation, these exchanges will be organized remotely.
- Selected students will be notified during in May 2021.
