PhD Code

A PhD Code has been drawn up and discussed within the University; it provides a framework for the relationship between doctoral students and their thesis supervisors. It is the result of discussions involving the various players in doctoral training at the University of Geneva.

The doctoral charter was approved by the Rectorate in May 2022.

The essential elements of this charter are as follows:

• A framework that fosters a stimulating, open and positive working environment
• A constructive forum for quality research
• Support that enables young researchers to develop to their full potential
• Clarity about the conditions under which the thesis will be carried out
• Encouragement for the development of a culture of shared responsibility
