Doctoral program in Econometrics

Ph.D. in Econometrics at the University of Geneva exists ever since the creation of the Department of Econometrics in 1970. The first econometrics chair in Switzerland was created at the University of Geneva in 1966. This position was then attributed to Professor Luigi Solari who later founded the Department of Econometrics.

A Ph.D. in Econometrics is awarded on the basis of a thesis in theoretical as well as applied econometrics, generally in the form of three scientific articles, evaluated by a jury composed of internal and external examiners. At least one of the three papers should be a methodological/theoretical one preferably with an empirical illustration and the others can be theoretical or applied with a strong methodological component.
