10 October 2016 - The Platform for International Water Law/Geneva Water Hub organise their first Webinar on “Water and International Law: What Role for the Sustainable Development Goals?“, in partnership with DiploFoundation.
The Platform for International Water Law/Geneva Water Hub, in partnership with DiploFoundation, organise their first Webinar on “Water and International Law: What Role for Sustainable Development Goals?” at the World Meteorological Organisation on the 10th of October 2016.
The Webinar is organized in the framework of the Distance Learning Course on «International Water Law & the Law of Transboundary Aquifers » offered by the Continuing Education and e-Learning Centre of the University of Geneva.
This event addresses the linkages between international water law and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Water is at the heart of sustainable development. A standalone goal on water has been included in the SDGs, promoting, among other targets, universal access to safe drinking water and transboundary water cooperation. The SDGs offer an opportunity to examine international water law in a broader perspective, highlighting the needs to ensure the protection of water ecosystems and human rights.
The speakers are: Mara Tignino, Dr. Annukka Lipponen, Environmental Affairs Officer, Secretariat of the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes and Ms. Viktoria Mohos Naray, Senior Legal Advisor, WaterLex. Dr. Jovan Kurbalija, Founding Director of DiploFoundation and Head of the Geneva Internet Platform, moderates the event.
