Arbogast Nyandwi joined the Energy Efficiency group at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE) and the Forel Department at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) as a research assistant and Ph.D. student in September 2023. His research mainly focuses on integrated modeling and optimization of sustainable energy systems and electric grid to enhance flexibility. His research project is linked to the “Swiss Federal Office of Energy” (SFOE) project “Tool for Distribution Grid Asset Planning under Uncertainties of Load Configuration and Flexibility Provision” (DiG-A-Plan).
Prior to joining University of Geneva, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from SAUT, Tanzania. In 2021, he earned a Master’s degree on Electrical Engineering and Sustainable Energy from Gujarat Technological University (GTU) in India. During this program, he investigated energy-related topics (e.g., load forecasting, energy management, renewables, energy storage systems, etc.). In his M.Sc. thesis he designed and optimized a stand-alone hybrid solar PV-Diesel generator power system for remote rural electrification.
He worked as an Assistant Lecturer in the Clean Energy Technology (CET) Group of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) researching and training on energy related topics (e.g., Renewable energy technologies, Mini grid, smart grids etc). He also worked as an energy consultant and engineer for energy utility local companies in Tanzania.
