Esra Trepci is a research engineer and architect with experience in the energy performance of the build environment for sustainable planning and energy policy. Her academic background includes studies in Energy Systems Management at Masdar Institute, UAE, and in Sustainable Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy.

She joined the Chair for Energy Efficiency at the Institute for Environmental Sciences (IES), affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), in October 2024 as a research assistant and Ph.D. candidate. Her work focuses on Thermal Energy Storage as part of the Swiss Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (SwissSTES) project, a flagship initiative of the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse), aimed at developing innovative solutions for the transition to net-zero.

Prior to joining UNIGE, Esra spend four years at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) R&D Centre in the UAE, as part of the Energy Efficiency (EE) team, where she researched how Zero Energy Buildings (ZEBs) contribute to the energy transition by reducing overall energy demand and integrating renewable energy sources.
