Dr Jonathan Chambers is a Assistant Lecturer at the Chair for Energy efficiency within the Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE) of the University of Geneva. He is a data scientist focused on energy efficiency in buildings and districts, with particular focus on domestic building thermal efficiency. His research interests focus on the integration of analytic methods from different disciplines including thermal physics, statistics, geospatial sciences, and network theory applied to big-data driven simulation and inference methods for energy datasets. He has an interest in software for open and reproducible science, and is responsible for the research IT system for the efficiency group.

He completed his Ph.D. in Energy and the Built Environment at the Energy Institute of the University College London, supported by EDF Energy R&D UK. This research developed a data-driven method for the thermal characterisation of dwellings, scalable to large smart-meter datasets in the United Kingdom .

Jonathan holds an M.Sc. in Energy Science and Technology from ETH Zurich, and a B.Sc. in Physics with Philosophy from Durham University (UK). He has experience in simulation for concentrating solar power from projects at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and Airlight Energy (Biasca, CH). He has also worked as a data scientist at start-ups in domestic and industrial energy use at BEN Energy (Zurich) and Adaptricity (Zurich).
