Dr. Marc Lecuit is a microbiologist and infectious diseases physician. He serves as Director of the Biology Infection Unit at Institut Pasteur and Inserm, and is Head of the National Reference Centre and WHO Collaborating Centre Listeria. He is a Professor at the Paris Descartes University and Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Necker-Enfants Malades University Hospital. Following his PhD in Paris Diderot University, he completed a fellowship at the Jeff Gordon laboratory of the Washington University in St. Louis, and joined the Institut Pasteur, as group leader of the Microbes and host barriers. He has been a major actor in understanding Listeria microbiology and listeriosis pathophysiology. Chikungunya pathophysiology is a major focus of his research. He is a member of the American Society of Microbiology and the American Society of Cell Biology.
