Presentation title: Epidemiological surveillance of acute respiratory viral infections at Geneva University Hospitals: Insights and Innovations
Dr. med Marie-Céline Zanella earned her Federal Diplomas in Pharmacy (2006) and Medicine (2011) from the University of Geneva. She holds FMH board certifications in Internal Medicine (2017) and Infectious Diseases (2022), along with advanced training in Infection Prevention and Control (2023). She completed her medical thesis in 2022 on the blood virome of transplant patients, exploring commensal and emerging viruses.
Since 2016, she has worked as a clinician and researcher in the Division of Infectious Diseases, focusing on virology, transplantation, and diagnostics. In 2020, Dr. Zanella joined the Infection Control Programme, with a particular focus on the surveillance and prevention of nosocomial respiratory infections. She leads respiratory virus surveillance at Geneva University Hospitals and served as co-PI of CH-SUR, Switzerland’s national hospital-based COVID-19 and influenza surveillance system.
