Dr Rebecca Grant
Rebecca Grant, PhD, is an infectious disease epidemiologist within the Infection Control Programme at the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG).
Dr Grant’s main research interests focus on epidemiological studies to reduce acquisition and transmission of acute respiratory viruses or multidrug resistant organisms, particularly in health-care settings. She also has an interest in emerging/re-emerging pathogens, such as MERS-CoV and Zika. Her doctoral thesis explored the public health impact of Zika virus infection during pregnancy following epidemic events in the Caribbean and in South-East Asia.
Dr Grant completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Otago, New Zealand, a Master’s degree at Sciences Po Paris, France, a Master of Public Health at the Sorbonne Université, France and a PhD at the Institut Pasteur and Sorbonne Université, France.
Prior to joining HUG, Dr Grant worked as a Technical Officer in the Health Emergencies Programme of the World Health Organization, supporting the international public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She also held a previous appointment as a Research Officer within the Centre for Global Health at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France.
