The Classical Archaeology Library is a collection of more than 8,700 slides of objects of archaeological origin that are physical withnesses of the important sociological evolution of human beings from the Neolithic period to antiquity. Among the objects captured in these images are statuettes, pottery, weapons, and historical monuments, all professionally dated, categorized, geo-located, and described by expert archaeological researchers from the Faculty of Humanities. This dataset, full of knowledge about the origins of civilizations, is now visually browsable through the IIIF image standard.

GYPSO

The Art History Gypsotheque is a collection of spec sheets on the production methods of important sculptures in art history. Each sheet contains important information about the process of creating a mold, such as the material used for its production, its artistic style, its state of preservation, or the museum in which it is stored. This dataset and the works it describes can be viewed through the IIIF image standard.

Roma1600

Roma1600 is a dataset  about organists and other Roman musicians from the 17th century. It contains data about the musicians as well as their multiple performances and even their patrons. This knowledge base offers a broad understanding of the importance of music in Roman society after the fertile period of the renaissance. The various scans of the manuscript scores give a glimpse of how this artistic knowledge was disseminated and perpetuated among the performers, while their contextual information draws out a Roman cartography of music.  This information set, full of knowledge on this particular aspect of the history of Rome, is now visually browsable through the IIIF image standard.

Poetry1600 is a dataset comprised of various latin poetry works shared accross Italian society during the 17th century. Containing data on the poets as well as their multiple writings, this knowledge base offers a glimpse on the importance of poetry in Italian society after the fertile period of the renaissance  This information set, full of knowledge on this particular aspect of the history of Rome, is now visually browsable through the IIIF image standard.

Visualcontagions

What is a succesful image? Are the images that have been forming globalization more potent and viral than others? What is their role in this peculiar cultural, social, economic and geopolitical phenomemnon that is globalization? We often hear globalization associated with a general homogenization under North-American domination, where their images appear to be be more powerful and attrative than others. This project showcases the results of a digital study about the history of image globalization, using the IIIF protocol for manipulating the images, and the RDF to link clusters of images and reference them in their spatiotemporal context. Turrettini

The correspondence of Jean-Alphonse Turrettini, which extends from 1681 to 1737, is one of the most significant epistolary corpora in the history of early modern European Protestantism. More than 5000 letters which have mostly never been seen before are referenced with due academic rigor. Thanks to detailed summary of each letter, publication of the related manuscripts, biobibliographies of the 656 identified correspondents, directory of the persons and works cited as well as the themes evoked. All the letters can also be consulted through their IIIF presentation.
