Né en Grèce en juillet 1948, Constantin Bouras a obtenu son diplôme de médecine à l'Université d'Athènes en 1973. Après des études postgraduées à Genève, Marseille et Athènes sur les neurosciences et l'anatomie-pathologie, il obtient en 1990 un titre de privat-docent en neuropathologie à l'Université de Genève. Son travail est intitulé Immunohistochemical approaches to the study of neuropeptides in the human central nervous system. Depuis 1991, il collabore en tant que professeur associé avec le Mount Sinai School of Medicine à New-York. Il devient médecin-chef de la Division de psychopathologie morphologique à Belle-Idée à Genève en 1994 et de la Division de neuropsychiatrie en 1995.

En tant que chercheur, il travaille très étroitement avec divers départements de l'Hôpital cantonal et de l'Université de Genève ainsi qu'avec un grand nombre de scientifiques suisses, français et espagnols. En outre, il collabore avec des équipes de recherche de différentes firmes pharmaceutiques.

Membre de sociétés scientifiques, notamment de la Société Suisse des Neurosciences, Constantin Bouras enseigne également à l'Université de Genève. Dès 1981 il donne des cours sur la neuropathologie des démences aux étudiants de 5e année de la Faculté de médecine. Depuis 1996, il dirige les travaux pratiques de psychopathologie morphologique dans le cadre de l'apprentissage par problème (APP). En outre, il anime régulièrement des séminaires tant à Belle-Idée que sur invitation.
