Internships for European Students

Students from european partner universities have the opportunity to carry out research or an internship at the University of Geneva in the framework of the Swiss European Mobility Program (SEMP).
The Academic Exchange Office is no longer able to offer scholarships to interns doing an internship at UNIGE, but it continues to offer administrative support.

Conditions of participation:

  • The prospective intern has identified a member of the UNIGE faculty who could supervise the research and has obtained that person's agreement. To do so, the candidate may contact the relevant faculty members directly in the various research departments (faculty websites) of the university to apply for an internship.

  • The internship is recognized by the student's home university (award of ECTS credits, mention in the diploma supplement or in the transcript of records). The academic supervisor at the home university commits the university to recognizing the internship.

  • The internship must last for a minimum of two full months and a maximum of 12 months (SEMP framework conditions).

  • The tripartite internship agreement (attached) must be submitted by laboratory/department to the Acadamic Exchange Office, duly completed and signed by all parties, no later than three months before the start of the internship. This document is binding on UNIGE, the home institution, and the intern.

  • The internship must start on the first Monday of the month.
