Exploring Automatic Spoken Language Simplification in Low-Resource Conditions


Lucía Ormaechea Grijalba is currently a teaching assistant and Ph.D. Candidate (Candoc) at the Department of Translation Technology (referred to by its French acronym TIM). Her main research focuses on the development of automatic spoken language simplification systems and falls within the framework of PROPICTO, a collaborative project between the University of Geneva and the University of Grenoble Alpes.

Before joining the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, she graduated from University of Navarre (Spain) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hispanic Philology and earned a Master’s Degree in Natural Language Processing from Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (Paris, France). Lucía also contributed to the BabelDr project with the development and deployment of an Automatic Speech Recognition system for medical applications, which she carried out as part of her master’s thesis project at the Grenoble Informatics Laboratory.
