We participated to the expedition « Science with GAIA », a sailing trip across the Atlantic ocean organized by former president of the Swiss academy of science Thierry Courvoisier. The expedition aims at promoting different fields of science among young adults. Our contribution was focused on the laser detection of aerosol particles by the ocean, which play a significant role on the radiative balance of the Earth. The impressive results of the first part of the trip, obtained by two matura students, are now presented on the sy-gaia web page
