Abstract
I will report on some recent results on modulational instability (MI) in optical fibers with random dispersion perturbations. I will focus on perturbations localized in space (kicks) and generated by colored random processes (Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and its modulated version). I will explain how the different analytical methods allow one to solve the problem and classify the MI sidebands of purely stochastic origin. Several extensions to other physical settings will be discussed.
