Open Positions

After 12 years at IQST at the University of Calgary and almost 5 years at QuTech at the TU Delft, the Quantum Network group (previously the Quantum Cryptography and Communication group) is now part of the Applied Physics Department at the University of Geneva. And we are hiring! We have active collaborations with the international research community, and locally are home to a network of research groups working on complementary quantum technologies as well as their theoretical underpinnigs. We offer a high quality of life, a very attractive research environment, and salaries according to Swiss standards.

Post-Doc

We are always interested in discussing opportunities for Post-Doc positions with bright dynamic researchers. Please contact Wolfgang Tittel for more information.

PhD

Entangled photons using cavity-enhanced cascading transitions in Tm:LiNbO3:  More details can be found here.

Quantum memory based on cavity-enhanced light-matter interaction in Tm-doped crystalsMore details can be found here.

Quantum computing using individual Tm ions in LiNbO3:  More details can be found here.

In general, we are always seeking outstanding candidates looking for PhD positions. Our group is exploring and developing quantum network technologies such as sources of single and entangled photons, quantum memories, and quantum computing nodes--all based on individual rare-earth ions that are often coupled to nano-photonic cavities--and their application in quantum communication and computing covering applied and fundamental aspects. The candidates must have a completed masters degree in physics or related disciplines (or completion is imminent) with excellent grades, be highly motivated, and enjoy working in an international team.

PhD Applications: Candidates should send an e-mail with a CV and motivation letter to Wolfgang Tittel. Please also identify 2-3 people who may provide recommendation letters.

Masters

We are always happy to hear from students interested in doing their Masters in any of our research areas. Places are limited so it is advised to contact Wolfgang Tittel in the first instance to check availability.

Internships

We are also happy to hear from students interested in doing an internship in any of our research areas. Places are limited so it is advised to contact Wolfgang Tittel in the first instance to check availability.
