Regional mechanisms and the protection of environmental defenders

How effective are regional mechanisms in protecting environmental defenders?

This week, the VIA project headed by Prof. Jörg Balsiger and Senior Lecturer Peter Larsen will put a spotlight on regional mechanisms together with partners from the Geneva Roadmap initiative. Together with partners from Kenya (Willice Abuya and Rose Birgen), Philippines and Peru (Waldo Adoya and Raquel Yrigoyen) events will be organized at the Palais des Nations to engage with environmental defenders, State delegates and CSOs in reviewing existing and future mechanisms together with in-depth discussions around Asia, Africa and Latin America.
