New collaboration with the Swiss Network for International Studies
Our colleague and PhD researcher at GEDT, Ms. Krittika Uniyal, has been awarded a Swiss Network for International Studies research stipend.
Krittika's research analyses the development of China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Nepal. As the Belt and Road Initiative is attracting a lot of attention across the world, it is raising important scholarly questions concerning China’s relationship with neighbouring countries, China’s role in the international system, and the very understanding of the nature and evolution of the international system and international cooperation. In contributing answers to these concerns, her research will examine what different actors' discourses, in particular critiques and justifications surrounding Nepal's commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative, suggest about underlying cultural, political, and theoretical understandings of the relationships between States in the region.
