Planque Marion
Marion Planque is a doctoral assistant at the Institute of Governance for Environment and Territorial Development (GEDT). She also holds the position of coordinator for the complementary certificate in Geomatics, a program designed to enable students to use geomatic tools to address current environmental and social challenges. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Law and Political Science at the University Toulouse 1 Capitole, followed by a Master's in International Business Law at the University Bordeaux IV with a study stint at the University of Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, she earned another Master's in Development Studies at the University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. Before joining the University, Marion worked for three years at the United Nations Environment Programme on the MapX project, an online and open-access geospatial platform aimed at promoting sustainable use of natural resources and environmental conservation. |
Thesis
Marion's research focuses on the role of geospatial technologies and information in environmental governance. Her doctoral thesis seeks to understand, describe, and characterize the use of geospatial information to monitor artisanal and illegal gold mining in the Peruvian Amazon.
Her work is supervised by professors Hy Dao and Irène Hirt.
