Mukhamejan Nadira
Nadira Mukhamejan obtained a joint International Master in Security, Strategy and Intelligence (IMSISS) from the University of Glasgow, University of Trento and Charles University, with a BA in International Relations from the Kazakh-German University. Between 2019 and 2022, as an assistant of the UNESCO Chair for Water Resources Management in Central Asia and the research fellow at the Centre for Sustainability and Natural Resources at the Kazakh-German University, she analyzed regional water policies and supported capacity building projects. Additionally, as a member of the Central Asian Youth for Water and the country coordinator at the COY16 she worked to advance youth participation in environmental decision-making in Kazakhstan. Currently, supported by the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, Nadira is doing a doctoral thesis studying the role of discourses in shaping water politics and policies in the Syr Darya river basin. Her thesis is directed by Prof. Christian Bréthaut. |
Research interests
Peace and conflict research in Central Asia, gender security, intersectionality between environmental and human security, water governance and water diplomacy in Central Asia.
