Mobile water quality sensor system (MOBESENS)

Bandeau_Mobesens_7FP.jpg

Description : This project develops a system of measurement of the quality of surface waters (lake, coastal zone, rivers) by the interconnection of a network of sensors installed on mobile or fixed systems, to assess in real time a problematic situation and to carry out additional measurement by the guidance of a mobile unit to the critical sites. For the University of Geneva, it allows to finance the optimization of sensor ito measure in-situ metals concentrations (Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn), and validate hydrodynamic models of lake currents.

Framework/Financing: The project is funded by the European Union (the seventh framework program), under the "ICT-2007.6.3 ICT for environmental management and energy efficiency". The research consortium is headed by the Swiss Center of electronic and microtechnology in Neuchâtel.

Collaborations : This project is implemented in direct collaboration of 7 research institutions or companies, namely the CSEM (Swiss Center for electronics and of microtechnology, Switzerland), Ifremer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea, France), Imperial college of science, technology, and medicine, Londres, EPFL (Ecole polytechnique de Lausanne, Switzerland), Group of schools of telecommunications, France, Adasa sistemas, Spain, Microsens S.A. , Switzerland.

Supervisor and colleagues directly involved: M.-L. Tercier , M. Masson, J.-L. Loizeau, W. Wildi
