Boosting consumption in China: The effectiveness of minimum wages - new article by Harald Hau

 

In a new article in VoxDev, Professor Harald Hau suggests that minimum wage increases in China are spent rather than saved, and are not associated with increased unemployment.

In households with children, a significant portion of the additional income is allocated to healthcare and education.

 

The study is co-authored with Ernest Dautović from the European Central Bank and Yi Huang from Fudan University.
