How to define casual effects in extremes? What are suitable benchmark data sets? Which frameworks for causality and extremes already exist?

GSEM Professor Sebastian Engelke and Postdoctoral Researcher Gloria Buriticá Borda are co-organizers of Causality in Extremes - a week-long event bringing together scientists from the fields of extremes, causality, fields (e.g., climate and environmental sciences) to foster discussions on pressing research questions.

The workshop will feature discussions, career sessions, and social activities, and the mini-courses will welcome international guest speakers, including GSEM Ph.D. recipient Nicola Gnecco (University of California, Berkeley).
