Addressing the Telecom Innovation Deficit

Telecommunication operators have lost much of the capability to influence the evolution of the technologies on which they depend. They have become aging monocultures; disruptive innovators have left the industry and innovation is outsourced.

GSEM Professor Katarzyna Wac contributed to an article on how to increase telecom innovation by eliminating barriers for smaller vendors. The authors recommend a number of actions to achieve this goal, while being realistic about the prospects of these changes taking place in a timely manner due to the entrenched culture.
