Institutional Directors: Do They Matter?
The summary of a study conducted by GSEM Professor Harald Hau has been published in the Columbia Law School's Blog on Corporations and the Capital Markets.
The article examines the mechanism of board representation and seeks to verify the theory that given their considerable ownership stake in U.S. public firms, it is conceivable that institutional shareholders are widely represented in the boardroom of U.S. public firms so that common institutional shareholders can coordinate rival firms through their board representatives.
Co-authored with Heng Geng, Roni Michaely, and Binh Nguyen, the summary is based on their paper “Do Institutional Directors Matter?”.
