26. Are GSEM exams going to be proctored remotely ?

The Dean’s Office has decided that the retake exam session, taking place 17th August to September 5th 2020, will be fully online.

Written exams will be on TestWe. In order to take these exams, you must send us your consent / non-consent between Wednesday July 15th and latest Wednesday July 22nd 2020. An email regarding this will be sent on July 15th.

There are several important advantages associated with the use of the TestWe platform:

  1. No internet connection is needed during the exam. This minimizes the probability of having technical problems that would invalidate a student’s exam.
  2. The length of the exam is no longer constrained to 1-hour (because no internet connection is needed during the exam; note that an internet connection is still needed at the beginning and at the end of the exam).
  3. An online identity control and monitoring of the exams will be undertaken as requested by GSEM’s exam guidelines.

If your non-consent is given, you will have to sit your exams in person on TestWe platform at Uni-Mail (no camera activation and under usual surveillance). This will be organized respecting the recommendations in terms of personal hygiene and social behavior, advised by the Federal Office of Public Health

For information on each exam modality, please check the following dedicated pages https://www.unige.ch/gsem/fr/a-propos/actualites/all/coronavirus/faq/ on the Faculty’s website or ask your professor directly. The deadline for any change in exam modality is Monday June 30th 2020.

You will be automatically signed up courses given during fall 2019 and spring 2020 semester for the August/September 2020 session.

For first year Bachelor's degree courses, you will be automatically signed up for:

  • exams for which you have received a mark lower than 5.00 during the May/June 2020 exam session ;
  • exams for which you were excused during May/June 2020 and August/September 2020 exam sessions for the blocks that you didn’t pass.

28. May I get support from IT monitor?

The Uni Mail’s library reopened on June 15th 2020.

The training team is now back to the library at their usual desks and are available for your questions (aisle GSEM / SDS).

Online assistance is no longer available.

As a reminder, users will be able to access reading rooms and other on-site services (including library collections, borrowing and return services, and printers and scanners) provided they comply with UNIGE's COVID-19 safety measures: www.unige.ch/coronavirus/fr/mesures-de-prevention/.

Assistance availabilities are as follows:

29. How can students have access to the photographs taken by their computer during the exam (TestWe)?

Students that want to have access to their photographs taken during the exams, should send an email to Student Services (service-etudiants-gsem(at)unige.ch) from their UNIGE’s email account. They should indicate whether they want access to all pictures, or only a few exams. To confirm their identity, student services will need their first and last name, as well as the student number. Student Services will then make available the pictures in the students personal TestWe space, and will send the student an email informing her that the pictures can be consulted on her TestWe profile. The student will then need to go through the authentication process on its TestWe account to access the photographs. The student can consult the photographs, but she cannot download or modify them. All photographs will be destroyed within two months after the grade transcripts have been sent to students in order to respect the delay for grade appeal.

NB: the photos of the mock exams for the May / June 2020 session and the photos of the exam session for the May / June 2020 session were all destroyed on 25.08.2020.

No. No constraints will be imposed on students asking them to watch their screen during the entire exam. This is certainly a feature of the TestWe software, which the GSEM has chosen not to use.
