New format for the GSEM Mathematics Preparatory School

For the start of the 2022 academic year, the GSEM is offering its Mathematics Preparatory School in an innovative format that combines individualized online revision and face-to-face question sessions. This program is organized at the beginning of each academic year to allow new students to revise their mathematical knowledge before starting their Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management at the GSEM.

The new format has been developed around an initial self-assessment that allows each student to identify their strengths and weaknesses. A personalized revision program is then offered to help students progress in the modules where they have been less successful. At any time, students can ask for help through a shared dialogue box, and in the week before the start of the academic year, four sessions are organized at Uni Mail to allow participants to ask their questions in person.

Proposed and realized by Dr. Oumaima Ajmi, this new Mathematics Preparatory School is the result of an internal call for projects of pedagogical innovation. The course content and materials have been completely redesigned and digitized, and the personalized revision proposals allow participants to assess their level and measure their progress. The combination of two pedagogical approaches, the flipped classroom and self-assessment, allows students to acquire mathematical knowledge and other important skills such as self-assessment.

This project mobilized various members of the GSEM; from the Faculty and teaching staff to the Information Service service team, to the students who produced the videos as part of the "institutional project" course, and the online platform was created in collaboration with Innprogress.
