What is Horizon académique ?
Horizon académique is an integration program offered by the University of Geneva as part of the Agenda Intégration Suisse (AIS) and Cantonal Integration Programme (PIC). It is a bridge program that prepares students for university. For one year or more, participants take classes, sit exams and can even earn ECTS credits, which can give them a head start on their studies. Program participants can either resume their studies at one of these higher education institutions in Geneva: the University of Geneva (UNIGE), the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO Geneva), or the Graduate Institute (IHEID); or find another training program better suited to their needs.

The program is offered in partnership with the Bureau de l'intégration et de la citoyenneté canton de Genève (BIC) and is supported by several private foundations.

Who is it for ?
The program helps immigrants improve their professional prospects, specifically asylum seekers and refugees (with S, N, F, F or B-refugee permits), persons holding a permit for family reunification (permit B or Ci, FDFA legitimation card). It is also meant for Swiss nationals who have returned from living abroad.

What are the activities?
The four pillars of our programme are:

  • Personal guidance to plan your studies and career
  • Access to university courses
  • Language and integration classes
  • The Horizon académique community
