Lecture by Mr Hanna Ziadeh - 16 May 2007

Mr Hanna Ziadeh, Project Coordinator, the Danish Centre for Human Rights, Sana'a, Yemen, gave a lecture on "Yemen Today" on Wednesday 16 May 2007.

Hanna Ziadeh is one of the editors of "Other Routes: 1500 Years of African and Asian Travel Writing" (Signal Books/ Indiana University Press 2006) as well as the author of "Sectarianism and Intercommunal Nation Building in Lebanon" (Hurst 2006). He is currently posted as project coordinator for the Danish Centre for Human Rights in Sana'a, Yemen. His talk will be a general introduction to the situation in Yemen and Southern Arabia, 60 years after Wilfred Thesiger's "Arabian Sands", which the students in the course have been reading. He will speak about what has changed and how does a contemporary Danish citizen and political commentator of Lebanese and Palestinian extraction view this still "exotic" part of the world. All are welcome.
