Research Interests / Recherche

Margherita Pallottino holds a BA in Arabic language from the University of Rome (2006). After spending some time strengthening her knowledge of spoken Arabic in Yemen and Tunisia she returned to academia and earned an MA in Linguistics at the University of Siena (2009). From 2010 to 2012 she taught Italian morphology and syntax at the University of Gafsà, Tunisia.

She completed the certificat de spécialisation linguistique at the University of Geneva (2014) and is now working for her PhD on syntax with Professor Ihsane. Margherita's research focuses on the issue of complement selection. In particular she investigates what mechanisms (semantic and syntactic) restrain the way verbs select nominal complements and how much they have in common with equivalent sentential complements. Arabic is still a part of her research interest and has a role in the cross-linguistic survey on which her research is based.
