Emily started her English Literature Masters in Autumn 2021 after completing a two-year ‘Complément d'études’ at the University of Geneva. For her Bachelor's degree, Emily studied Music at Oxford University, where she focused on the fundamentally gendered nature of music, the representation of female heroines in Romantic opera, and the presence of women composers in the classical music canon. In her English Literature studies so far, Emily has taken a particular interest in exploring how literary works can serve to reconstruct and challenge society’s notions of gender and sexuality both within and beyond the work’s historical context.
