Wenli Tang holds an MA in theoretical linguistics from Beijing Language and Culture University (2017). She joined the program Certificate of Specialization in Linguistics in 2018 and is starting her PhD in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Geneva.
Her research interests mainly lie in the syntax-semantics interface as well as the interface between syntax and pragmatics/information structure, or the syntacticization of pragmatics. More specifically, she has worked on the syntax and semantics of different types of clefts in Mandarin Chinese and Left Periphery-related topics such as the classification of Topics and Foci. Her current research focuses on the sentence-final particles in Mandarin Chinese and their interaction with speech act, sentence type and modality (mood) within the cartographic framework in a cross-linguistic perspective.
