Rui-Long Monico holds a design BFA from the University of Texas, a crisis communications CAS from the Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften and an art history MA from the University of Geneva. He is currently pursuing a PhD candidate at the University of Geneva (under the direction of Prof. Béatrice Joyeux-Prunel) and the Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart (under the direction of Prof. Oliver Zöllner); his research questioning the soft power of Swiss banknote design.
Aside from his academic endeavours, Rui-Long Monico is a trained fine artist and the co-founder and creative director of Candy Factory, a visual communication agency based in Geneva and for which he has participated in numerous projects for local and international institutions. He is also serving in the Swiss Armed Forces with the rank of captain, incorporated both as a communication officer and as a military judge appointed by the Federal Council.

Rui-Long Monico est titulaire d'un BFA en design de l'Université du Texas, d'un CAS en communications de crise de la Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften et d'une MA en histoire de l'art de l'Université de Genève. Actuellement en doctorat à l'Université de Genève (sous la direction du Prof. Béatrice Joyeux-Prunel) et à la Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart (sous la direction du Prof. Oliver Zöllner), sa recherche explore le soft power du design des billets de banque suisses.
Artiste plasticien et iconophile, il exerce – en dehors de ses activités académiques – en tant que directeur de création de Candy Factory, une agence de communication visuelle dont il est le co-fondateur. Il poursuit également une carrière militaire, avec le rang de capitaine, au sein de l'Armée suisse, où il est incorporé à l'état-major de la Patrouille des Glaciers et en tant que juge nommé par le Conseil fédéral.
