Pinakes and Pinakes Text are two strictly related modules able to organize documents and manuscript sources in a domain ontology categorisation allowing scholars to retrieve information in a more logical and semantically oriented way. The same ontological classification, designed by scholars themselves with the aid of the system developers, can be used to markup the transcription of the texts (or part of them) in order to facilitate the automatic linkage of contexts dealing with similar arguments, independently from the words or the expressions used by the author. It means that it will be possible to produce a very reach set of indexes, from the more simple alphabetical word index, to the more sophisticated and scholarly useful thematic index ontologically based. Samples will be shown not only about the de Saussure's electronic edition project, but about other activities carried out on the fields of archaeology (Ippolito Rosellini project) and history of ancient philosophy (Greek into Arabic ERC Advanced grant project)".
