| Description | The current paper is an empirical study devoted to Romanian ditransitives aiming to discuss new experimental data which lend support to a derivational account of these constructions. In particular, it focuses on a set of data which have not been discussed for Romanian so far and which concern grammaticality differences holding between structures containing differentially object marked (DOMed) direct objects (DOs) and bare indirect objects (IOs) and structures where the IO has been clitic doubled. More specifically, while a DOMed DO may bind into a bare IO, the presence of a dative clitic doubling the IO leads to ungrammaticality. The sharp degradation effect of the dative clitic is attested irrespective of the order in which the two object DPs surface.
