About us
Geneva Advances in MatheMatics & Applications (G·AMMA) is a structure at the University of Geneva officially created in 2024 but has served as a hub for fostering academic collaboration and advancing research in mathematics since 1976. As part of the Faculty of Science and Section of Mathematics, our centre invites researchers from around the globe to engage with our academic community at the University of Geneva.
Our visitor programs are designed to facilitate both short-term interactions and long-term collaborations and are divided into two main categories:
Short-Term Visits:
Scholars visit to present seminars, engage in discussions, and work on collaborative projects.
Long-Term Visits:
Extended stays (over 15 days) allow for deeper research partnerships and significant contributions to ongoing projects.
This current flexible format has consistently proven to be highly effective, enabling inclusivity—with participation from various Section of Mathematics members —responsiveness to new developments, and a high standard of excellence among the speakers.
Each year, we host a diverse group of scholars, with around 45% of our visitors being junior researchers. The center has played an instrumental role in cementing our status as a leader in the global mathematics community, thanks to the ongoing support from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) since 1977. We are also deeply grateful for the additional support provided by professors with European Research Council (ERC) grants, Principal Investigators (PIs) of Simons Collaborations, and the NCCR SwissMAP, whose matching funds have been instrumental in enabling visits from researchers working in the field of Mathematical Physics.
