[601] Pathophysiology of Acute Pancreatitis

Our laboratorium focuses its research since 1998 on the pathophysiology of acute pancreatitis and pancreatitis associated lung injury using several dissimilar models of pancreatitis in rodents. We mainly study the early events that characterize the acute pancreatitis including the premature intraacinar activation of digestive proenzymes into activated enzymes and the fcators that will dictate the ultimate severity of the disease. Our laboratorium also studies the cytoprotective role of heat shock proteins in these models and regulalrly uses transgenic mice which are deficient in pro-inflammatory molecules. Moreover our laboratorium is involved in different studies in human which are aimed at identifying new predictors factors of severity.
