As the clinical trials coordinator within Isabella Eckerle's group, Miriam assumes responsibility for the management and coordination of studies related to medical device evaluation and clinical trials, ensuring compliance with good clinical practices, local regulations, and institutional procedures. Her role encompasses the preparation and updating of various essential documents, patient selection and enrollment, data collection and entry, as well as data quality supervision. Additionally, she is involved in a project aimed at evaluating the performance of new point-of-care molecular diagnostics for the direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid, sponsored by FIND. The objective of this study is to independently assess the effectiveness of point-of-care molecular tests compared to real-time reverse transcription PCR, serving as the reference standard for COVID-19 diagnosis. With her background in biochemistry and pharmacology, she is also capable of contributing to laboratory analyses within this project. Her daily routine involves effective communication with various stakeholders, as well as the planning of meetings and training sessions while overseeing the overall management of these critical studies.
