Luis Eduardo Hernandez Ramirez
Painting a stable antenna for cell communication
Luis is a biologist and chemical engineer from Maracaibo, Venezuela, with a passion for chemical biology. His work centers on visualizing and controlling biological processes using chemical tools. He completed his master’s project in chemical biology at EPFL under the supervision of Prof. Pierre Gönczy. Currently, Luis is pursuing a PhD in Prof. Sascha Hoogendoorn’s lab at the University of Geneva, where his research focuses on developing tools to decipher cellular signaling in the primary cilium—the cell’s antenna—with a particular emphasis on the impact of microtubule acetylation. Beyond his studies, Luis is an advocate for human rights and finds inspiration from photography and nature.
