Aischa Blomeke-Eiben

2024 winner

The enemy inside: the role of tissue-resident memory T-cells in multiple sclerosis

After studying pharmacy in Montpellier and Paris, Aischa pursued her passion for fundamental research by starting a PhD in neuroimmunology at the University of Geneva. Working in the Lab of Prof. Doron Merkler, her project focuses on characterizing the persistence mechanisms of brain-resident T cells. Specifically, she aims to evaluate whether targeting these mechanisms could provide clinical benefits for CNS autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Beyond research, Aischa enjoys exploring the beautiful hiking trails and experiencing the diverse music festivals that the Geneva region offers.

Aischa's grant is generously supported by the Fondation privée des HUG.
