Prostate inspection: defeat cancer at inception
Mehdi Amini is a PhD student at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), collaborating closely with the Hôpitaux Universitaires Genève (HUG). Originally from Iran, Mehdi holds a background in Physics and a Master’s degree in Medical Physics. His research primarily explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and radiology, with a particular focus on molecular imaging. Currently, his PhD thesis is centered on developing a PET scanner specifically designed for prostate imaging. A significant component of his work involves leveraging AI-driven software to overcome the limitations posed by cost-effective, reduced hardware. The goal of his research is to pioneer a new generation of PET scanners that are both more affordable and precisely tailored to the unique requirements of prostate imaging, potentially making this advanced technology accessible to all patients with prostate cancer.
